Fertirelin

Fertirelin is a medication used to treat reproductive disorders in horses, cattle, and pigs. It is a synthetic analogue of the naturally occurring gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). It is used to treat reproductive disorders caused by pituitary tumors or disturbances in the normal functioning of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. It works by stimulating the release of gonadotropins, which in turn stimulates the production of sex hormones and the development of reproductive organs. Fertirelin is used to treat disorders such as delayed puberty, infertility, and anestrus (lack of estrus) in horses, cows, and sows.

Fertirelin, also known by the brand name Ovalyse, is a medication classified as a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist [Wikipedia].

It works by mimicking the natural hormone GnRH, which stimulates the pituitary gland to release other hormones, luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). These hormones play a key role in reproduction [Wikipedia].

Fertirelin has been used for a variety of purposes, including:

  • Treatment of sex hormone-dependent conditions
  • Infertility in women [Wikipedia]
  • Ovarian failure in cattle [Wikipedia]

However, it is important to note that Fertirelin may no longer be available, and its use should only be under the supervision of a medical professional.
