Mesulfen

Mesulfen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug used to treat mild to moderate pain and inflammation caused by a variety of conditions such as headache, toothache, muscle pain, menstrual cramps, arthritis, and others. It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. Common side effects of Mesulfen may include nausea, stomach pain, headache, dizziness, and drowsiness.

Mesulfen is a medication that was previously used for two purposes:

  • As an anti-acne treatment
  • To treat scabies, a skin condition caused by mites

Mesulfen is a dimethyl derivative of thianthrene, which is a tricyclic ring system. It works by killing mites and bacteria on the skin.

Mesulfen is no longer commonly used as a medication because there are more effective and safer treatments available. It is important to note that mesulfen should not be used without consulting a doctor, as it can cause side effects such as skin irritation, itching, and burning.
