Phenobarbital

Phenobarbital is an anticonvulsant medication used to treat and prevent seizures in adults and children. It works by decreasing the abnormal electrical activity in the brain that causes seizures. It is also used to treat insomnia and anxiety. Phenobarbital is generally safe, though it can cause side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, headache, and confusion.
