Proglumetacin

Proglumetacin is a medicine used to treat heartburn, indigestion and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD). It works by reducing the amount of acid in the stomach, which helps to reduce symptoms like heartburn and indigestion. It is available as a tablet or capsule, and can be taken before meals or at bedtime. Proglumetacin is not recommended for use in pregnant women or those who are breastfeeding.

Proglumetacin is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) typically sold under the brand names Afloxan, Protaxon, and Proxil . It is metabolized in the body to indomethacin, which is a different NSAID, and proglumide, a medication that helps protect the stomach lining [1].

Proglumetacin is used to manage pain and inflammation associated with various inflammatory conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis [3].
