Motion Sickness
Motion sickness is a type of nausea and vomiting that occurs when a person is exposed to an environment with conflicting sensory messages. It is caused by the brain receiving input from different senses that are telling it different things. For example, when a person is on a boat, their eyes may see the movement of the boat, while their inner ear can feel the rocking sensation of the boat. These conflicting sensations can cause the brain to become confused, leading to motion sickness. Symptoms of motion sickness may include dizziness, nausea, vomiting, sweating, and increased saliva production. Treatment typically includes medications to reduce nausea and motion, as well as avoiding activities that may trigger motion sickness.
