Neuralgia
Neuralgia is a type of chronic pain that is caused by irritation or damage to a nerve. It can be felt in any part of the body, but it is most commonly experienced in the head, face, and neck. The pain is typically sharp and stabbing and can be quite severe. It may be accompanied by a tingling sensation or numbness in the area of the nerve. Neuralgia is usually caused by a medical condition such as shingles, diabetes, or multiple sclerosis. It can also be caused by compression of the nerve due to an injury, tumor, or scar tissue. Treatment of neuralgia depends on the underlying cause, but medications and physical therapy can help to reduce the pain. Surgery may be needed to remove a tumor or repair a damaged nerve.
