Hypnotic
Hypnotic is a type of medication that is used to induce sleep. It works by slowing down the central nervous system, allowing the user to relax, reduce stress, and eventually fall asleep. Hypnotics can be taken before bedtime in order to help achieve a more restful sleep. They can also be used to treat insomnia, a condition characterized by difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep. Common hypnotics are benzodiazepines such as diazepam, zolpidem, and zopiclone. These medications act on the brain to decrease anxiety and induce sleep. They are generally safe when used as directed, but should be taken with caution as they can become habit-forming and cause side effects such as drowsiness and confusion.
