Esophagosis
Esophagosis is an abnormal condition of the esophagus, which is the tube that connects the throat to the stomach. It occurs when the lining of the esophagus is damaged, and can be caused by various factors such as acid reflux, infection, trauma, or certain medications. Symptoms of esophagosis can include difficulty swallowing, chest pain, and heartburn. In severe cases, esophagosis can lead to narrowing of the esophagus, which can cause food to become stuck in the esophagus and lead to choking. Treatment for esophagosis will depend on the underlying cause, but may include lifestyle modifications such as changing your diet and avoiding certain trigger foods, as well as medications to reduce acid reflux. Surgery may be necessary to repair the damage if it is severe.
