Hyperacidity
Hyperacidity is an increased level of acidity in the stomach, which is often caused by an overproduction of gastric acid. This can lead to a variety of digestive issues, including heartburn, nausea, and stomach pain. Hyperacidity can also be caused by certain medications, such as aspirin and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). In some cases, it can also be a sign of an underlying medical condition, such as peptic ulcer disease or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Treatment for hyperacidity usually involves lifestyle changes, such as avoiding certain foods, limiting caffeine intake, and avoiding smoking. Additionally, medications, such as antacids, histamine-2 receptor blockers, and proton pump inhibitors, can be used to reduce stomach acid levels. Surgery may be recommended in more severe cases.
