Uterosis

Uterosis is a medical condition where the uterus becomes enlarged, usually caused by hormonal imbalances or an accumulation of fluid and tissue. It is most commonly seen in postmenopausal women and is a result of increased levels of estrogen. The main symptom of uterosis is an uncomfortable feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen. This is caused by the enlarged uterus putting pressure on other organs and structures, such as the bladder and rectum. Other symptoms include pelvic pain, irregular menstrual bleeding, and frequent urination. The diagnosis is made through a physical examination and pelvic ultrasound. Treatment depends on the underlying cause, but may include hormone therapy, medications, or surgery.
